The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have internships available for the Fall of 2010. They start in September and run through the conclusion of the 2010 year. This internship can turn into a paid internship in January or Full Time employment. Applicants with senior and junior standing will be given preference for internship positions.

• Nearly 50% of our interns from our first three season's have been selected for full-time employment, and many continue their professional growth & development within the company
 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Open to COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY; Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students
• Must be seeking an internship for class credit as a prescribed part of curriculum
• Must demonstrate professionalism, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a “can-do” approach
• Able to work long hours
• Housing and travel are the responsibility of the student

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are seeking hard-working, energetic students who are eager to learn, want to gain experience in the sports field, and be a part of a premiere professional sports organization.

The qualified candidate for this posistion should have the following:

• Minimum of 3 years of group & ticket sales with a focus on outbound telemarketing calls preferably in Minor League Baseball
• Sponsorship sales experience is a plus but not required for this position
• Willingness to work in a sales, goal oriented environment
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Strength in time management, administrative ability, organization, and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public in a professional manner
• High energy; ability to remain focused on sales goals and work independently
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Proficient with Excel, Outlook and Word software

The Blue Crabs are looking for an experienced sales executive that has strong sales skills and wants to further his/her career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Responsible for generating maximum revenue through full menu of group & ticket programs
• Sell full-seasons, partial plans, and group tickets
• Create and develop new business by regularly pitching new prospects through in-stadium tours, external appointments, and phone prospecting
• Plan and coordinate group events
• Manage all personal accounts to provide the highest level of customer service throughout the season
• Game night responsibilities include answering the incoming sales line, assisting with sales initiatives, and/or prospecting clients at the stadium
• Attend outside events with the purpose of selling ticket & group packages in conjunction with the marketing department
• Maintain accurate records of all prospecting activities and closed sales
